  • 1946-1950 Boston Red Sox vs 1962-1966 Los Angeles Dodgers

Can you beleieve I typed 8 nice paragraphs on this and then lost it - will redo shortly, with summaries on each team each year

    but which team was better?
    1. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)

but the Dodgers had an overall weaker record and a miserable 1964 season

is it the Red Sox fault they played in a league with a much better opponent than the Dodgers had year in year out?

          1946 Red Sox 104-50 .675 1st place
          1947 Red Sox 83-71 .539 3rd place
          1948 Red Sox 96-59 .619 2nd place (tied for 1st, lost 1 game playoff)
          1949 Red Sox 96-58 .623 2nd place (1 game out)
1950 Red Sox 94-60, .610 3rd place. Ted Williams missed 65 games, last team to hit .300 as a team

          1962 Dodgers 102-63 .618 2nd place (tied for 1st lost 3 game playoff)
          1963 Dodgers 99-63 .611 1st place
          1964 Dodgers 80-82, .494 tied for 6th place
          1965 Dodgers 97-65, .599 1st place
          1966 Dodgers 95-67, .586 1st place

If I did this right it is 473-298 (.613) for the Sox and 475-340 (.583) for the Dodgers
