Leaving off those involved in the steroid scandal (Bonds, Mac, Clemens, etc), my choice for the best "old" position player ever is probably Honus Wagner. For pitchers, it's undoubtedly Randy Johnson.

Here's a great "old" hitter who's a bit under the radar:
He hit .321 at age 38, .301 at age 39, .341 at age 40, and .347 at age 41.
Any guesses?My top 10 players:
1. Babe Ruth
2. Barry Bonds
3. Ty Cobb
4. Ted Williams
5. Willie Mays
6. Alex Rodriguez
7. Hank Aaron
8. Honus Wagner
9. Lou Gehrig
10. Mickey Mantle

I'd have to single out Phil Niekro and Jamie Moyer as very close runner-ups to Randy Johnson.
I also forgot Warren Spahn and how can you leave him out of the discussion. He had 20 win seasons in 1956 through 1961 and 1963 at ages 35 through 40 and 42.Last edited by philliesfiend55; 10-12-2012, 08:06 AM.

Actually, you said 2008, so OBVIOUSLY it's not Mays. But Mays also aged well enough.Last edited by dgarza; 10-12-2012, 08:26 AM.
