Two guys: Duke Farrell and Lance Parrish
Couple of noted catchers from opposite ends of the spectrum. Your considered opinions?

Parrish had the cannon arm, big powerbat and racked up enough counting stats to rate being in the top 40 catchers all time. Farrell no one talks about but had that Schalk-Schang-Bresnahan thing going for him. -
Both seem to be among the best of their era, but clearly not the best. I can't pin it down any further. They look like very good comps from what I can tell. If someone said of Ferrell, "He was like the Lance Parrish of the 1890s," how far off would he be?Indeed the first step toward finding out is to acknowledge you do not satisfactorily know already; so that no blight can so surely arrest all intellectual growth as the blight of cocksureness.--CS PeirceComment
