I kind of see McGriff as a 1990s version of Rice (our memories of him make him greater than he actually was). So I went with McGriff.

Wellll, Crime Dog for career value. Jim Ed is better than he is credited w by TUS(the usual suspects) here but Fred gets the nod.

I gave Crime Dog the nod here. It's closer than I realized at first, even after I cast the vote. But I think McGriff has more value, keeping his rate stats up for 1,000 more PAs and his total and secondary averages blow Rice away.

This sounds about right.

I'll admit I was going to say "McGriff by far" until I looked closer at the stats.

Not necessarily. Rice is considered one of the weaker members of the Hall of Fame and plenty of folks would say he doesn't belong.

McGriff was better even if you ignore that McGriff played in the steroid era (and Rice didn't). IF you make any reasonable adjustment for that, then he becomes a much better player than Rice.

Interesting match. I was tempted to take Rice based on peak, but McGriff had a pretty good and perhaps longer run from @ 87-88 through 93-94 (off the top of my head). Considering their value was almost all in the batters box gotta give it to McGriff.
