Licey still can't win in Santiago, Eagles win 5-3

Julian Tavarez (Picture) made his debut yesterday, pitching 4 innings of 2 runs allowed... He didn't show a lot of stuff, but was helped by great plays of the defense...

Felix Diaz did his part, and threw also 5 innings of 2 runs. No decision. Then the bullpen blew it... The eagles made 3 runs in a 4 pitcher 6th inning, and held on to the lead, to finally win it 5-3

Mendy Lopez by the Eagles, and Willis Otañez by the Tigers each hit solo shots, to stay tied in the league lead with 5, tied with Wilson Betemit of the Lions...

      Arnaldo Muñoz made the save.

The King of the Jungle!! Lions win 8th straight, take distance at the top

The Lions kept their winning streak going by beating the eagles 5-4 at home... Edwin Encarnacion of the Eagles put them on top 3-2 in the 4th, but the bullpen couldn't hang on, so they came from behind, to beat them...

In La Romana, Raul Valdez went looking for his 4th win, and that's exactly what he got! He threw 6 scoreless innings, allowing just 2 hits, gave 2 BB and struck out 5... The losing pitcher was Erick Knott... The final score was 6-4... Ond the winning end, Juan Melo drove in 3, and Casey Rogowski went 4-5

In San Francisco, the Giants finally came out of their streak, and beat the Stars 8-1. Aquilino Lopez pitched 6 strong innings, and allowed just one. Nelson Cruz homered and drove in 3...

Today all the teams play the same teams, but in different home. Today's game mark the first half of the season (game 25) out of 50 regular season games

Felix Jose hits 60th: All-time Homerun King

Felix Jose, of the Stars, hit a solo shot in the 1st inning, marking his 4th homerun of the season, and the 60th of his career, to make him the sole member of the 60HR club in the Dominican Winter League history... He left behind Rico Carty's 30 year record of 59... The closest active player is Izzy Alcantara, who's currently playing for the Escogido Lions, and has 5. The Stars won that Game 9-5.

In Santiago, the Lions kept their streak going, now making it 9 straight, and came back to win 8-7. The game was 7-6 in the top of the ninth, but the lions reacted, and took the game away from the Eagles' closer Arnaldo Muñoz.

In Santo Domingo, the Tigers took payback on the Bulls, and won the game 6-5... Jose Bautista hit his 5th homer of the season... The tigers came top the 8th winning 6-1, but the bullpen allowed 4 runs, to make it 6-4... Then in the 9th Yhency Brazoban was called up to make the save... He allowed a run, but held on, for his league leading ninth save of the season...

The games of yesterday marked the halfway point of the season, as game 25 were played... Today's the start of the second half, and Juan Carlos Cruz (former cubs) is announced to start the game for the tigers, trying to cut the lions incredible performance...

            Finally!! Licey snaps Lions' streak

The tigers playing at home against a sellout crowd, and behind a solid performance of debuting pitcher Danny Tamayo, shutout the lions and closed the gap to the top to just one game...

Joel Guzman of the stars hit a grand slam, and Doug Linton allowed 1 in 6 innings, to beat the bulls 4-1

The Giants started with a 4-0 lead against the eagles, and could hang on... to win it 5-4

              Hello Licey fan,

I am traveling from San Diego,California USA this Thursday evening, Thanksgiving night and will be arriving Friday [email protected] SDQ Las Americas airport @ approximately 11:00 AM. I did reserve a rental car and this is pursuing one of my lifetime dreams of seeing winter baseball in the Dominican Republic!!

Could you please inform me of the games that will be played while I am there Nov.25-28.

I was at a San Diego Padres vs Milwaukee Brewers back in May of this year and spoke to Julio Santana and he told me to look him up when I got there but I only had his cell phone number and since have missplaced it.

I am strictly going for baseball and would like to see as many games as I can in the short time I will be there.

If you would be so kind to respond to this email , I would certainly appreciate it and tell me how I go about getting tickets and so on and directions to the stadiums.

I would also like to go to San Pedro de Macoris and maybe to the cigar factory Arturo Fuentes if it is feasible to drive from where I am staying in Boca Chica.

              GO TIGRES!!!!

                Ok... so here's your info

                Thursday:
                OFF DAY

                Friday:
8:05 Eagles at Tigers in Santo Domingo (game of the day, probably sold out)
7:35 Lions at Stars in San Pedro de Macoris (Lions are in 1st place)
7:35 Bulls at Giants in San Francisco (forget about this one)

                Saturday:
8:05 Lions at Tigers in Santo Domingo (game of the day, also a probable sell out)
7:35 Eagles at Giants in San Francisco
7:35 Stars at Bulls in La Romana

                Sunday:
5:05 Stars at Lions in Santo Domingo
5:05 Tigers at Eagles in Santiago (the dominican classic again, already sold out)
5:05 Giants at Bulls in La Romana

You picked an excellent weekend to watch some baseball, the best teams of the league will be playing each other this weekend... Timo Perez is supposed to join the lineup this weekend for the tigers, and Jose Lima is supposed to pitch Sunday for the eagles in Santiago

I marked in bold the games I recommend you to get... The sunday game is in Santiago, is pretty far of Santo Domingo, and since you don't have the tickets, is probably better that you go to the lions-stars game... You'll find tickets for that game easily

For friday and saturday, those are hard to get tickets, and they can't be bought in advance... You could probably get them, but you'll have to pay overprice for them (black market)

But since you come from the States, you'll find that the tickets are relatively cheap... The best tickets cost RD$400 pesos (about 12 dollars)... In the black market they can go as high as 1,200 pesos (thats like 35 dollars)... And those are THE BESTS SEATS... you can get cheaper seats... it all depends of the attendance

I'll go to the friday and saturday games in santo domingo... if you need my cell phone, pm me along with your name, and i'll send it to you... I'll gladly help you in buying the tickets, even though i already have mine since im a season ticket holder

                Good Luck!!

                P.S.
I'm not sure, but I think Santana plays for the lions

In my opinion this winter ball in DR is really gonna show how all of latin america has strength and it not just being DR.... Yes they are running the majors right now but I would guarantee that if cubans were able to defect that we would be a top of the majors like we always were....

                    More of the same

And I mean by the same this: The bulls beat the eagles in their home, for the 3rd time this season... by a score of 6-1

The tigers beat the stars again, and they're still undefeated against them. 3-1 was the result. Yhency Brazoban made the save again. Wilton Chavez got the win.

The lions keep on winning, while the giants keep on losing. HR's of Izzy Alcantara and Angel Peña... Final score 7-6

                          Eagles get payback, Pound Bulls

Justin Miller pitched 6 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 singles, and Ryan Mullhern (picture) homered, and tripled, batting in 5, in route to a 11-0 victory.

The Stars finally could take one from the tigers, but it wasn't easy. The Stars started up with a 5-0 lead in the 3rd inning. In the 7th, leading 7-3, Jose Bautista hit a grand slam, his league leading 6HR of the season, to tie up the game... The tigers menaced in the 10th, but couldn't capitalize and paid for it in the 11th, with a game winning single of Luke Allen. The final score was 8-7

In San Francisco, Nelson Cruz hit his 5th homer in 5 days, and led the way to a giant victory 9-3 over the league leading lions.
