  • Juan Miguel Miranda is not that bad. His numbers in Cuba were good.

Why has not Osbeck Castillo signed yet? He was like Francisley Bueno and not too old.

    • Miranda's numbers were good for Cuba, but for MLB, he's a mid-20's outfielder with average or even below average power.

Osbeck Castillo was a very fringe prospect -- good one year and then really bad the next. (I think he led the league in losses in 2002 or 2003.) Real good curveball -- maybe the best in Cuba -- but he never really put everything together.

              • Speaking of Cuba, I haven't been able to access some of the Cuban web sites for about a week. Can any of you access the following:

                http://www.inder.co.cu/

                http://www.beisbolcubano.cu

... or do you get "could not contact the server" errors?

                  Ifreidi Coss

The youngster from Caibaiguan, Sancti Spritus has helped make that province’s pitching staff one of the most improved. Coming off an injury in ‘03, Coss finished that season with an outstanding ERA of 2.25. With a record of 10-3 in 2002, he debuted with Team Cuba at the Intercontinental Cup the same year. In '03 he was on Cuba's World Cup champion squad. In '04 he placed fifth among all pitchers with a 2.34 ERA.
