Juan Alvarez from "Viva Baseball"

Recently watched the documentary "Viva Baseball" about Latin ballplayers in the majors.

A Juan Alvarez was mentioned by one of the ex-players. He said he was one of the purest home run hitters he had seen. Apparently, he returned to Cuba shortly after Castro took over but was unable to return to the United States to play ball.

Can anyone tell me about him?
