Mike Garcia, a former major leaguer (only played 3 games in the big league) for the Pittsburgh Pirates went to Taiwan's CPBL (1996-198 & 2004-2005) and been one of the most dominate closer in the league. He won the MVP award of CPBL in 2004 season, with 26 saves and a ERA of 0.708!

Mike Hartley, a former major leaguer, is playing in Germany this year (part-time; he's primarily a coach at age 46). He might be the first ex-MLBer to play in Germany - I'm not aware of any others. I hardly expect him to be a star given his age.

Tyrone Woods has been a star in South Korea and Japan; http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Tyrone_Woods

Spanish-born but US-raised Danny Rios was the MVP in South Korea last year and is now in Japan; http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Danny_Rios

Seth Greisinger has done well in Asia; http://www.baseball-reference.com/bu...eth_Greisinger

Gary Rath has pitched well in Taiwan and Korea; http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Gary_Rath

There are also Latino players who have been prominent in Asia in recent years such as Alex Ramirez and Tilson Brito; I assume by American, you mean US citizens, not North and South America.

US minor leaguers or former college players have also been prominent in European leagues, but the caliber of play is lower than Asia, which is why I am focusing there. Also, Americans tend to have longer tenures in Asia than Europe, where they come and go. Mexican-born, US-raised Octavio Medina has been in Germany for quite a time now and is a bit of an exception.

As for others I'd really have to look hard, and I would have to ask you to clarify. Do you mean Americans that now star in other places, or American stars that now play in other places.

For instance Derrick White down in Mexico. Won a batting title for a Tijuana two years ago, hitting .400. He's been a big name down south for a while, but didn't do jack over here.

Alex Cabrera wasn't an American, but played in the majors before becoming the highest paid player in Japan a couple of years ago.

I'm not sure about some others...
