Of course, there are several hundred more. The list was Mexican players in the US minors, when there are plenty in the Mexican League, an official minor league and part of Organized Baseball.

Well, sort of. The Triple-A classification of the Mexican League seems more like a legacy type of arrangement than a reflection of it being a true part of O.B., especially given that players don't naturally progress to MLB as do all other players in O.B.

The Mexican League itself is not affiliated with MLB. Some MLB teams though have working agreements with some Mexican League teams. This does not translate to MLB having rights to all Mexican League players as it does for the other two AAA leagues - the PCL and the IL.

It is part of the National Association and Organized Baseball and is therefore a minor league, whether it is affiliated with MLB or not. It is also listed on official minor league sources such as www.milb.com

              So it's an Independent League?

In a sense...The players are not subject to a draft and are not directly owned much in the same way that some minor leagues weren't in the early part of the 20th century.

I am suprised there aren't a few more Mexicans playing MLB, but I understand leaving Mexico as a baseball player is difficult and the system is restrictive.

No. It's part of the National Agreement, unlike independent leagues.
