    I am suprised there aren't a few more Mexicans playing MLB, but I understand leaving Mexico as a baseball player is difficult and the system is restrictive.

    In a sense...The players are not subject to a draft and are not directly owned much in the same way that some minor leagues weren't in the early part of the 20th century.

    The Mexican League itself is not affiliated with MLB. Some MLB teams though have working agreements with some Mexican League teams. This does not translate to MLB having rights to all Mexican League players as it does for the other two AAA leagues - the PCL and the IL.

    Well, sort of. The Triple-A classification of the Mexican League seems more like a legacy type of arrangement than a reflection of it being a true part of O.B., especially given that players don't naturally progress to MLB as do all other players in O.B.
