  • Germany's Lutz brothers

The 2008 Reds Media Guide lists a Watertown, NY birthplace for Donald Lutz. Donald and Sascha Lutz have been members of the German national team. Were both Lutz brothers born in the USA? When did the family come to Germany?

How about Tobi Stoner who pitches form the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League (single high A). It was said that he was from Germany and played baseball at an American university. Does any one have information about him. Actually he is having a good season so far.

I don´t know exactly the whole story but as far as I know is their dad american and mum german. He was/is in the US Army. So I think they met here in Germany. Donald was born liin Watertown - Sascha was born in Frankfurt/Germany (as far as I know). They both have duel citizenship US and German.

Where can I find this Media Guide?

I don´t know anything about him but it would be great if he is german and wants to play for the german squad! There are a lot players/coaches born in Germany but most of them born in a military hospital so they are US.

But I think that there are a lot more players with german roots out there that maybe can play for team germany
The only thing you know is you never know and that you know for sure!

Go to http://pressbox.mlb.com/pressbox/media_guides/index.jsp, click on Reds, then Player Development. I didn't check the Angels Guide to see what they have on Ludwig Glaser. Are there any other new Germans coming to the US this year?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there 3 German born players in the MLB?

          Will Ohman
          Edwin Jackson
          Jeff Baker

They are maybe born in Germany but they are not German (I wish they would!)
http://www.thebaseballcube.com/cities/GE.shtml - here you can find some more players born in Germany but most of them are US. (because of Army station and US parents)

An easy way to find out if they are German is the name if their whole name sound german - they are german (in most of the times)

Currently playing in the US (known) Germans

Donald Lutz - Cincinnati Reds (Rookie)
Ludwig Glaser - LA Angels (Rookie)
Jennels Hudson - Boston Red SOX (Rookie)
Rodney Gessmann - Minnesota Twins (Rookie or higher)
Kai Gronauer - NY Mets (not know yet)

            + for sure
Kid with German Mother living in US started College

there will be some more but they are not known
