  • Uh oh... looks like the US will sneak in there after all

Will someone please get Jeff Francis out of the game NOW?

    Yeah that was anti-climatic.

    Viva La Mexico!

Well, the US is in now, unless of course they lose to South Africa. Now Canada has to win no matter what.

Yeah going to be interesting to see if this juggernaut Canadian offense can come through. Averaging 10 runs a game so far so I wouldn't count them out.

Well, we all know the results now. Canada probably wished they had held Mexico to seven less runs. Team USA is in control of their own destiny now.

If the U.S. beats South Africa, then 3 teams in that bracket will be 2-1 (Canada, Mexico, U.S.). What decides which two make it through?

Lowest Runs Against in games between tied teams (divided by 9, but since no game went into extra innings, I won't list it).

                Mexico - 2 vs. US + 1 vs. Canada = 3
                US - 0 vs. Mexico + 8 vs. Canada = 8
                Canada - 6 vs. US + 9 vs. Mexico = 15

All the relevant games have already been played, so it's just a matter of the U.S. winning or losing - runs scored against in the South Africa game doesn't even come into play.
South Africa cannot be 2-1 while Mexico and Canada already are, so they are officially eliminated.

I believe it's the Lowest EARNED Runs allowed.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

So by the looks of it USA and Mexico will advance to the next round, correct?

Mexico is secure, the US has to defeat South Africa first to advance. No matter how many runs the US allows it is in with a win.
