Not that it really matters, but Manny became an American citizen in 2004.

... as are A-Rod, Pudge Rodriguez, the Molina brothers and, I believe, Albert Pujols. (Pujols went to school in U.S.; not positive about immigration status.)

Seems like a lot of love for Felix Hernandez for a guy with no wins and a 6-plus ERA. Lot of potential, but All-Star is a stretch right now.

Alex Rodriguez not a latin? I think you should do some homework. Alex Rodriguez was born in NYC and his parents, both mother and father are from the Dominican Republic. Alex, as is the case of many first generation Dominican-Americans, spent time in DR and first gained his appreciation and love for baseball as a child in the Dominican Republic. That body of his was supplied with lots of 'platanos' growing up and while he lived outside of the large Dominican community while living in Florida, his "latin" or Spanish heritage is solid. By the way, there are lots of Spanish speakers in Florida.

Agree. He might be the best latin pitcher ever, but as the saying goes: the proof is in the pudding.

JVN -- The title of this thread is the "Non-American All-Star Team."

A-Rod might have Latin heritage, but he was born in U.S., grew up in U.S., was educated in U.S. and became a millionaire in U.S. at age 18. If he's not "American," then none of us are.

Playing baseball in Miami worked out a little better for A-Rod than dropping out of school at age 14 in the D.R.

OOOOOOhhh, you just discovered hot cocoa JVN. I'm dominican, so believe me i know what i'm talking about.

On dominican baseball forums we've debated over and over again about this matter. He borned outside the Dominican Republic, and only ONE of his parents is dominican...his father.

Agente Libre said it all too well. We're talking non-american All-Stars. That means, players that didn't borned in US territory. Alex did.

Well, now that yankillaz clarified the purpose of this thread, I suppose my post is obselete. But I'll post it anyway.

Pedro Martinez is also a permanent United States citizen. He became a citizen pretty recently, I believe.

A-Rod was born in New York City so he's always been an American.

I thought all people born in Puerto Rico are US citizens. They may not be able to vote in US Presidential elections but they are US citizens.
