Really seems like Canada is playing less and less in these tournaments. Any idea why they and the USA are skipping?

    • Like a U-12 WBSC-organized tournament, I don't understand why a U-23 tournament would hold any value.

          The 2016 Euros also began - http://www.baseball-reference.com/bu...n_Championship

In the WBWC (http://www.baseball-reference.com/bu...ball_World_Cup), Japan won its fifth straight title, to the surprise of no one. Canada got its second Silver Medal ever and Venezuela its first Bronze while Taiwan missed the Bronze by one out in an exciting Bronze Medal game. The Netherlands, Taiwan and Venezuela look like they continue to make good progress. Australia was 5th, low for them, but did beat the US in pool play, knocking them into the consolation round and their lowest finish ever.

There was no Asian Championship this year. The last one was in Taiwan in 2015. The only event the Baseball Federation of Asia held in 2016 was the Asian U18 Baseball Championship, also in Taiwan.

                • I think Argentina is definitely the strongest country not invited to the WBC competition.

                  • SouthwestAmAZins and others,

I am missing many of the game scores for the U23 Series. Here is what I have
so far. Each team should have five games in the First Round, but as you can see,
we have no info on games played Oct 28 through Nov 5.

                    October 28
                    Australia vs. Austria
                    Taiwan vs. Argentina
                    Nicaragua vs. Japan
                    Venezuela vs. South Africa
                    Mexico vs. Czech
                    Panama 5 South Korea 4

                    November 3
Japan 2 South Korea 1 in 10 innings
                    Mexico 15 Australia 8
                    Venezuela 3 Argentina 1
                    Nicaragua 9 Panama 3
                    Czech 14 Austria 7
                    Taiwan 8 South Africa 0

                    November 4
                    Panama 3 Japan 2
                    Mexico 7 Nicaragua 4
                    Australia 9 South Korea 7
                    Australia 8 Panama 4

                    November 5
                    South Korea 5 Panama 3
                    Japan 3 Mexico 2
                    Nicaragua vs. South Korea

                    November 6
                    Bronze Medal Game
                    South Korea 5 Panama 3

It is improbable that Australia and Panama played twice each on Nov 4. It is improbable that Nicaragua played South Korea on Nov 5, when the other two games played that day are the Semi-FInal Games.

                    Gold Medal Game
                    Japan 10 Australia 3

                    Final Standings
                    # 1 Japan 5-0 / 3-0 / 1-0 // 9-0
                    # 2 Australia 4-1 / 1-2 / 0-1 // 5-4
                    # 3 South Korea 4-1 / 1-2 / 1-0 // 6-3
                    # 4 Panama 5-0 / 2-1 / 0-1 // 7-2
                    # 5 Mexico 3-2 / 1-2 // 4-4
                    # 5 Nicaragua 3-2 / 1-2 // 4-4
                    # 7 Taiwan 2-3
                    # 7 Venezuela 2-3
                    # 9 Argentina 1-4
                    # 10 Czech 1-4
                    # 11 Austria 0-5

Do you know how to open it?
