  • MLB to Open in Australia in 2014?

LA and Arizona at the SCG by the sounds of it, though there haven't been much in terms of negotiations.

Do you know much about the Syydney Cricket Ground? How would it play for baseball?

(I know that it hosted the White Sox and Giants 100 years ago. Wonder what the dimensions were for that game?)

It seems that now MLB have come out and said no negotiations have taken place...

The SCG would play a lot like other football/cricket grounds. It'd be reasonably short down the lines so to compensate it is likely they'll put up something to stop home runs just flying out. In Adelaide they use a similar size ground and it's only 290 down the right field line, its not much better in left at 320. They use a net in right field to limit home runs.

It is unfortunate there are no other baseball facilities that could host such an event. Blacktown is insufficient. Should MLB come to Australia it is likely that the SCG or MCG would be the few options.
