Japan won the 2012 Asian Championship; as it's no longer an Olympic Qualifier, teams sent B squads: Japan sends industrial league players mostly, South Korea sent KBO bench players, Taiwan sent some US minor leaguers but not CPBL stars, etc. The Philippines team was similar to their WBC Qualifier team minus a lot of the US imports. The big note was China nearly beating Taiwan again, only losing 3-1; China keeps on gaining ground.

The China vs. Taiwan game useless. Taiwan's final standing was already decided before the game.
