Most of the cheaper tickets have already gone, leaving mostly tickets that are in excess of $A259 ($US248).

My son and I managed to snag tickets in the grandstand outfield for the Sunday afternoon game ($A69 each).

At last I will be able to wear my Mets t-shirt in Sydney and there will be people who understand what it means!
I'm surprised the second allocation are still available given how quick the first lot sold out.

Australian NT to play against the teams! I had this idea that this would be fun but wasn't sure if it would even be considered.

Just trying to post a photo from the State Library of New South Wales.

This is how the Sydney Cricket Ground looked when it was last visited by Major League Baseball: back in January 1914!

As cutchemist42 announced, Sydney will host two preliminary games involving Team Australia. On Thursday 20 March 2014 (7:15pm Australian Eastern Daylight-saving Time), Team Australia takes on the Dodgers, while on Friday 21 March (also at 7:15pm AEDT), the Aussies will meet the Diamondbacks.

I'd be tempted to go to the prelim matches but between uni and a trip to Melbourne for the Friday night it's an impossibility.

I'm very pleased to hear that Vin Scully will be heading down to Australia to broadcast the opening games.

How I would love to share an afternoon and a few beers with Vin when he's in Sydney. Imagine the stories he could tell!

Does anyone know whether the preliminary games, Australia v LA and Australia v Arizona, would be covered by my MLB.tv subscription?

I have no problems with his honesty. I'm sure if you polled most players they wouldn't be too thrilled about the set up. These comments do not dull my enthusiasm for the game one iota!

Has anyone received their tickets to this game yet?

I bought tickets a while back and have not yet received them by mail. I live in the USA so that probably will slow the shipping down a bit.

FWIW, Billy Beane indicated on a ESPN soccer podcast that MLB is considering opening 2015 in Taiwan.

Have just heard that former Australian cricket captain Ian Chappell will be doing commentary for the opening series. He did play baseball in his youth, so he may have an idea about the game but he is a terrible cricket commentator so there is no reason to feel confident about his ability to call a baseball game.

Does Billy usually guest on soccer podcasts?
