Interesting, this has been rumored for some time, but the Caribbean Confederation hasn't tweeted anything themselves. He is some back story: The CBPC President, Juan Francisco Puello was not happy when the leagues from Colombia, Nicaragua, Panama & Veracruz, Mexico joined forces and created the ALBP then formed their own event in 2013; the Serie Latinoamericana. He took this as a direct challenge to the CBPC and considered it Colombia's and Nicaragua's resignation; as they were passive members, meaning they paid dues, but had very little to show for it. ALBP President, Ajax Delgado has said that if one ALBP member joins Caribbean Series that all of them must go too. About a year and half ago the ALBP have also announced that Curacau will be joining them.

What is surprising to me is that Panama's Probeis has some of the most atrocious attendance and lack of media support; and yet Puello wants them to join the Caribbean Series? There have been rumors that MLB wants the Caribbean Series to expand, but nothing official. Colombia demonstrated that their best could play competitively in the WBC and Nicaragua has sustained its professional league (LBPN) for many years, but the Veracruz League encountered some issues this past winter, and the Curacau Winter League can't seem to get off the ground. I don't think any of those league are ready to compete, but it would be better if the Serie Latinoamericana could be a qualifier for the Caribbean Series.
