Anyone know when the 2005 seasons are going to be available from baseball1 or baseball-databank, or if there's another site with the same stuff?

    I hope that's all.

New database updates at the baseball-databank.org site generally come out in early January at the latest unless there's a major overhaul in progress...which unfortunately this year there is..so it may be a little while longer.

Also...I don't believe there is any other online database of baseball statistics available that contains the same data...at least not for free.

I downloaded my info from databank last year in november. In fact, if you got to the files site http://www.baseball-databank.org/files/ both 2003 and 2004 are in October. I know lahman is usually around Christmas.

that's why I said January at the latest....

But there's a major refitting of the DB this year to conform to new database creation standards...it make take a while.

Dang! I was hoping to have it within the next week or so. Otherwise, I probably won't have the capability or the time before the season starts to update and do my research. Thanks, though.

#1.When did it take until January?
#2.What are the new standards? I'd be perfectly happy having the same format available. At least then I could update my lists accurately until the new stuff comes out.

Back in 2001 there was an overhaul of the table structures and that took until January 15th...baseball1.com didn't have it's version out until March that year. But normally it's out within a month of season's end...this year is odd because they're changing the entire way the database is built (to make it more formally a database construction...they're doing things like taking all name information out of the other tables...leaving playerIDs in the master table only and referencing players by a number. You can read through the update posted in August to get a sense of what's coming.

I wish they'd just leave most of it alone. My database in 1.5GB the way it is with about 400MB just linking post-season queries/tables with the master query. (I combined the names into the other tables instead of referencing.) The DB shuts down everytime I open those master-linked queries the way it is. I'm glad I went through and added the data I did to the tables. There's no way it will handle my 200 some queries. (I hope to make it close to 300.)

              Thanks.

I just downloaded the new updates from baseball1. Can anyone tell me why GIDP data isn't included for 2005. I don't want to do any more work until I know that info is right. I just emailed the site.
