I am releasing a DVD of home movie footage from the Rochester Red Wings Junior World Series game in 1931 against ST. Paul and also games in which they played in 1932 against: Toronto, Buffalo, Columbus, and Newark. There will be almost 2 hours of footage with subtitles throughout. If anyone is interested please let me know on this forum. Plenty of big names and great close up footage of the players.

George Sisler in Home Movies
Mischa,
Do you know what number George Sisler wore back in 1931? I only have the one film from one game that season - the Junior World Series game. He would be in the team shot at the end where all the players posed for a team picture, but I am not sure how much action there is of him during the game w/o a number. Given the cost of film back in those days I only have about 15minutes of footage from the 1931 game he would have played in. The photographer was probably in the front row when filming, plus they must have had access to the team as they took about 15 seconds of footage up close of the team gathering for a team picture.
Interestingly, I have a short clip of George Selkirk from one of the 1932 games in which Rochester played Newark. Also, many of the names in subtitles are: Joe Brown, Mickey Heath, George Fisher, Paul Florence, Specs Toporcer, "Pooch", plus many more. These films are out in California being digitally transferred as we speak so when I get them back I will be able to add more names to the list of who is on these films for those who are interested.

Pooch is probably George Puccinelli (sp?), an IL regular of the 30s.

SABR would have several people interested in the home movie. There is a fellow that is researching every Junior WS game and is supposed to be writing a book about it's history. Don't remember his name."He's tougher than a railroad sandwich."
"You'se Got The Eye Of An Eagle."

Tony -thanks! I will be around to check back for new messages. Here are some pictures I took with my digital camera looking at the film through a loupe. They will look much better when transferred. Baseball1.jpg
