    Of all the pitchers who started their careers in the modern era (1900 or later) only Doc White, Ray Caldwell, Christy Mathewson, and Chief Bender,did this. What is "this".

    They are the only players whose primary position was as a pitcher, who started their careers in the modern era, to steal 20+ bases. The number of teams is immaterial to the answer.

      By the way I worded this I should have included Jack Coombs and Johnny Lush. More careful wording would have limited the answer to just seasons in which the player was primarily a pitcher. My bad.
