The peak ten years are:
95 to 04: Sosa - 479
20 to 29: Ruth - 467
95 to 04: Bonds - 444
96 to 05: ARod - 424
30 to 39: Foxx - 415
90 to 99: McGwire - 405
61 to 70: Killebrew - 403
92 to 01: Griffey - 400
Okay, part two. Without looking, who has the best shot at joining this group in 2006?

So he’s the most likely in each of the next three years. Much further than that, and it's too much conjecture. Nevertheless, Manny still has the best start of those who could reach the plateau in 2009, if he hasn’t already:
2009: Manny41 --- Thome41.5 --- Andruw45 --- Carlos45 --- Vlad47
Of course age is a big factor in this picture. Manny and Carlos are 33, Thome is 35, Sheffield is 37, and Raffy is 41 (uggh). Vladimir is only 29 and Andruw is only 28.
So the most LIKELY to be NEXT is Ramirez. Then maybe Thome and Delgado. And with Guerrero, and Jones… anything’s possible.
