without looking - what hall of famer tossed the yankees first shutout?

My first guess would be one of the HoF'ers from those first years, and I would be right but the Yankees were not the Yankees until 1913, and I have no idea who did it then.

the yankees weren't the yankees until 1913 - funny but i thought the term yankees was just a nickname - i guess babe ruth never existed before 1914 - he miraculously sprang to life at the age of 19

i'll go slow - after the baltimore orioles transferred to new york in 1903 who tossed the first shutout for new york's american league team that was first monikered americans, then highlanders and yes the yankees

Maybe if you worded your question properly in the first place, you wouldn't have to give a smart-a** response.
