  • Won 18 gms as pitcher & was 1st or 2nd in MVP voting 7 times, who is he ?

His last full season in the minors, he was a pitcher and won 18 games, but in the majors he faced one batter. He turn out to be a great hitter, never struck out more than 43 times in a season.
He finish 1st or 2nd seven times during his career for the league MVP award.

Hello again everybody, it's a bee-yoo-tiful day for BB.

I know Stan Musial started out as a pitcher. Was it him?

While Musial did win 18 games in his final full season in the minors as a pitcher in 1940, he also played a full season in the minor leagues in 1941 without pitching. Though he was called up to the parent St. Louis Cardinals after the minor league season ended, he played a full season in the minors in 1941.

Yes the answer is Musial, the trivia Q start by saying he spent he last full season, meaning last HIS full baseball season. Minor leagues have short or full with differ numbers of games,
That why in today game you have Sept. call ups when minor league seasons are over, but not the baseball season in the ML level. In Musial case in Q he started and ended his
season in the minors ending his full season, if he was called up to the ML would have expand to the end of the baseball season.

That might be what it means to you, but "His last full season in the minors," means something else to me. In 1941, he played a full minor-league season. His time in the minor leagues was not interrupted by a call-up to the majors. His short stint with the parent Cardinals was after he played a full minor-league season.
