Which player has the most career strikeouts without ever hitting 20+ homers in a single season?

    Royce Clayton?

Yeah, poor guy. Imagine being burdened with THAT record.

When I first read this I would have guessed Lou Brock. But he hit 21 in 1967.

Brock does have the most strikeouts of any player with fewer than 150 HR. He struck out 1,730 times while hitting 149 homers.

And there are only that Ted Williams has the fewest career strikeouts for a player with over 500 HRs, he had 709 Ks in his career, 1 every 10.86 ABs

Same, I thought it was Brock at first too but then I remembered hearing some announcers talking about Clayton last year. I'm surprised he's been able to hang on so long in MLB being such a borderline mediocre player.

I say his other record is the worst player who somehow played 2000 games

I'd say Mark Belanger may give him a run for the money.

                  Belanger:
                  2016 G, 20 HR, 389 RBI, .228 AVG, .280 SLG, .300 OBA, .977 Fielding
                  Clayton:
                  2108 G, 110 HR, 723 RBI, .258 AVG, .367 SLG, .312 OBA, .974 Fielding

Has anyone ever had a single season OPS+ (in over 100 games) lower than Bill Bergen in 1909? He managed an OPS+ of exactly 1 that year. He only played 947 career games, but his career .170 avg. and career OPS+ of 21 really set the standard for bad hitters.

He must have had the best arm a catcher ever had to stick around so long. He led the league in assists three times but only twice in his career played more than 100 games.
