this may take some thinking but what pitcher holds the record for most hits without a hr?

  • #2
Tommy Bond had 336 hits without an HR in the 19th century.

Waite Hoyt had 255 hits in the modern era.

There is something wrong with your source. Sutton had 195 career hits without a homerun, and as KCGHOST pointed out, Hoyt had 255. I'm sure there are many others with 100 hits an no homeruns, too. Orel Hershiser, for example, had 163 career hits and no homeruns. Billy Pierce had 203. Dutch Leonard had 177. Bump Hadley had 190. Howard Ehmke had 210. Fritz Ostermueller had 175. etc, etc.

Any good source will just abbreviate hits with an h, not sh.
