  • What is the correct play?

Here's the situation. It's the bottom of the ninth. There is one out. The score is 3-3. There are men on 1st and 3rd. The batter hits a deep fly ball foul into the right field corner near the wall. What is the correct play for the right fielder?
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. ~Rogers Hornsby

Unless the outfielder is pretty sure that he can throw the runner out at home, he should let the ball drop.

Yes sir. I learned it the hard way in an American Legion playoff game 12 years ago. Cost us a chance to go to states. Thought I could get him at home but I tailed the ball up the third base line. It still haunts me.

Let it drop dont take the risk off not getting him out at home.
