ichiro has never missed the all star game since his arrival in 2001.
derek jeter has never missed the postseason.
the reason there was no 1904 world series is because john mcgraw refused to play the american league champions.
gary carter had the last 2 hr game at the all star game
al kaline has the most career hrs without hitting 30 in one year.
joel youngblood is the only player to get a hit for 2 teams on the same day.

    Believe It Or Not

Mickey Mantle had only four (4) seasons with 100+ runs batted in...

Willie Mays had no World Series home runs in 20 World Series games....

Babe Ruth batted .393 in 1923 but did not win the batting title....

Dean Stone was the winning pitcher in the 1954 All Star Game but he did not pitch a single ball or strike in the game....

And he had an ERA+ of 112 and still lost 55% of his decisions :grouchy

Stone had a 1-1 count on Duke Snider when Red Schoendienst attempted to steal home on Stone's third offering.

Taken directly from Ripley's, Phil Cavaretta finished 1953 having played 1,953 games.

Too bad he suited up in 1954.

Two of Virgil Truck's five victories in 1952 were no-hitters.

Dickie Noles was traded for himself.

Bill Bevens, Al Gionfriddo and Cookie Lavagetto, after making baseball history in the 1947 World Series (Bevens took a no-hitter into the ninth, Lavagetto broke it up, and Gionfriddo robbed DiMaggio with a great catch) never suited up for a MLB game after the series was over.

Bobo Holloman pitched a no-hitter in his first ever Major League start in 1953. He did not play beyond his rookie year.

Fred Lynn produced the ASG's only grand slam. It was the second home run Atlee Hammaker gave up in the inning.

Ichiro Suzuki hit the only inside-the-park home run in ASG history in 2007. Not the moon landing, but historic in ASG sense.

Babe Ruth batted .393 in 1923 but did not win the batting title....

Harry Heilman, Detroit, led AL with .403 in 1923

              1922: Ty Cobb .401; George Sisler .420

              Rogers Hornsby averaged .404 over a 4-year period, 1922-1925.

Schoendienst attempted steal was before any pitch to Snider, according to my information.

On July 29, 1996, Houston’s Mike Hampton defeated Cincinnati’s Mark Portugal to improve his record to 7-7, with the loss dropping Portugal’s record to 7-7. Hampton pitched seven innings while Portugal pitched 7.1 innings and gave up seven hits. Houston’s Billy Wagner got the save, his seventh of the season.

It was the 7th month of the year, and Bagwell had 7 putouts, Reds fanned 7 times, Bret Boone (who batted 7th) got his 7th sac fly, and portugal allowed 7 flyouts

I realize there are numerous sources stating Stone didn't throw a pitch, but they are all wrong.

You are correct. That is a great example of something that most people think is true because it has been repeated that way so often.
