I'll take a stab at it.........

#1. Homered twice in the All-Star game.
#2. Hit for the cycle on July 4 at Atlanta in a extra-inning, rain-delayed game.
#3. Ended the World Series in Game 6 with a home run.
#4. Had six staright hits in early July, each of which was a home run.
#5. Pitched last of his record 7 no-hitters.

Nolan's last no-hitter came much later than 1981. I was an Astro fan back then and I remember he led the NL in ERA that year.

You are correct --- I meant pitched his record-breaking fifth no-hitter. Sorry, I had a brain cramp..........

            I see four straight

Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

It looks like he homered on June 29 in his last AB and then hit three on July 4 and then homered in his first AB on July 5. So in this stretch he was 5 for 19 with 5 homers.

I'd read that it was 6 but I only see 5.

              Hope this clears things up...........
