  • Just like the old days

Name the team (and the year) that lost 11 straight games and the opposing pitcher threw a complete game in each of the games. Just like they used to in the old days.

Well, I just have to believe that somewhere in all their losing streaks this must have happened to the 1899 Cleveland Spiders.

What I am looking for is a team from a more modern generation losing 11 games and the opposing pitcher pitching a CG in each game.

In the old days this was not that uncommon. For instance in 1911 Boston (NL) lost 10 games in a row and the opposing team had a CG in each game.

SO I'm looking for a time (perhaps it was even the last time something like this happened) in which 11 complete games in a row would be highly unusual. That would not be the case in say 1899 where 88% of all games were CG. For instance in 1973 onle 23% of the games were CG so 11 in a row would be highly unusual.

In to avoid further problems why don't you tell us what the earliest season is that is acceptable?

either '62, '63 or '65 Mets. Or the '03 Tigers. Those are the only ones I can think of. I know they had horrible seasons. Whether or not they lost 11 in a row im not sure of.

Just a note to all the active members of BBF, I consider all of you the smartest baseball people I have ever communicated with and love everyday I am on here. Thank you all!

I don't know if it was the last time but the 1961 Phillies lost 11 consecutive complete gamnes from 08-04-1961 to 08-14-1961.
