  • No no-no's

Last night, the Mets played the 8,000th game in its 50+ year history. It is, of course, one of two MLB teams without a no-hitter in its history (the other being the Padres, which is now in its 44th season).

There is only one other team in MLB history to have gone longer than 8,000 games without a no-hitter. Name the team. Extra credit for the years of the last one before the dry spell and the one in which it was broken.
    Put it in the books.

Very good, Brooklyn, my friend. It was indeed the Phils. Johnny Lush had one in 1906, then they didn't have another until Jim Bunning's Father Day perfect game in 1964. It's still currently the longest span between no-hitters for any team in MLB history.

Ironically, the final scores in both the 1906 and 1964 games were 6-0.

Well, so much for the preface of that trivia question. In their 8,020th game, it was only twenty games off, heh.
