On July 4 A.J. Pierzynski became the 30th player in MLB history to play 1500 games at catcher. He is the leader among active players for games at that position. He has appeared defensively as a catcher in 1500 of his 1564 major league games.

He shoulda been an allstar this year but I can see how Ron Washington would take his guy over him. This is probably the best year he's ever had as of the allstar break. I just hope he stays with the Sox which I doubt will happen. I think letting Pierzynski walk really hurts the clubhouse. Love him or hate him he was a good presence with the Sox.
I think he was voted as one of the most hated players and thats another reason he probably wasn't picked as a allstar too. The players picked Matt Weiters who really hasn't had a great year."(Shoeless Joe Jackson's fall from grace is one of the real tragedies of baseball. I always thought he was more sinned against than sinning." -- Connie Mack
"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)

If he does re-sign with the Whitesox he could pass Carlton Fisk in games caught.
1. Carlton Fisk-1236
2. AJ. Pierzynski-995
Not sure what Lollar and Schalk have"(Shoeless Joe Jackson's fall from grace is one of the real tragedies of baseball. I always thought he was more sinned against than sinning." -- Connie Mack

Ron Karkovice has 918 games caught. I dont know the answer but I would guess the Whitesox have the most catchers with 900 games or more caught."(Shoeless Joe Jackson's fall from grace is one of the real tragedies of baseball. I always thought he was more sinned against than sinning." -- Connie Mack

- Phillies 7 (Lieberthal, Dooin, Boone, Daulton, Clements, Dalrymple, Seminick)
- White Sox 7 (Schalk, Lollar, Fisk, Sullivan, A.J., Tresh, Karkovice)
- Yankees 5 (Dickey, Berra, Posada, Muson, Howard). They are all over 1,000 games caught. The Yankees are the only franchise with 5 1,000 games caught guys. The White Sox will join them in a week or so
- Cubs, Indians, Cardinals - 4 each
Note that Fisk and Boone each caught 960+ games with 2 different teams

EDIT: I see I was beaten to the punch. Serves me right for having several tabs open at once.
