  • Cal Ripken's streak

We all know Cal surpassed Lou Gehrig in 1995 for most consecutive games played. IMO, it was one of the early things to get baseball fans back into the game after the '94 strike - but hardly the impact the '98 home run race had between McGwire and Sosa.

But who did Lou pass to stake his claim with most consecutive games played? No fair if you

Wasn't it Everett Scott, another Yankee who played 1407 straight? Wasn't Scott a shortstop?

    I didn't look this up.

Yep. I knew this would be a 1st round KO with the knowledge base here. Good going!

        Everett Scott?

It's just a jump to the left
And a base steal to the right
Put your hands on your hips
And swing the bat in tight
But it's the face first slide
        That really drives you insaaaaaaaaane

When Ripken finally took a rest, who took over as the active consecutive games played leader in MLB?
