  • 40/20 Seasons

The other day, Ryan Braun reached the 40 HR / 20 SB mark.

Can you name (without looking it up) the other 5 active players who've done this?

    1) Alex Rodriguez 1998, 1999, 2005 & 2007 (chicagowhitesox1173)
    2) Chipper Jones 1999 (chicagowhitesox1173)
    3) Alfonso Soriano - 2006 (GiambiJuice)
    4) Curtis Granderson - 2011 (GiambiJuice)

    Alex Rodriguez
    Vladimer Guerrero..Might be ineligable
Josh Hamilton...not sure if he ever got 20 stolen bases
Adrian Beltre...again not sure if he got stolen bases
    Chipper Jones

"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)

      ARod of course
Vladdy's not on the table since he's not active, but believe it or not - he never did it.
      Hamilton is a no go.
      Beltre no go as well.
      Chipper is a winner!!

        Alfonso Soriano went 40-40.

And I believe Granderson did it last year.

Sorry for the delay as my laptop was on the fritz for about a week and I forgot about this.

GJ is correct with both Soriano and Granderson. One left to go.

              David Wright?
              Hanley Ramirez?
"No matter how great you were once upon a time — the years go by, and men forget,” - W. A. Phelon in Baseball Magazine in 1915. “Ross Barnes, forty years ago, was as great as Cobb or Wagner ever dared to be. Had scores been kept then as now, he would have seemed incomparably marvelous.”

Both good guesses, but not quite.

When I asked this question at my local pub the other day, ARod was called out in less than a minute. Soriano was next about 10 minutes later. Took almost 1/2 hour for Granderson and that's becuase the guy who walked in thru the door had him on his fantasy team last year. Chipper required a few clues. The final answer couldn't be gotten.
