  • Last played in 2007 Until this Year

Before resurfacing with the White Sox this past season, Ray Olmedo last played in the big leagues in 2007. He spent 2008-2011 bouncing around Triple-A in the Nationals, Rays and Brewers systems.

Travis Blackley, as well, last played in the big leagues in 2007 before resurfacing in 2012. He played all over the place in the interregnum, including Australia and Mexico.

Adam Greenberg, last played in 2005 before earning an at-bat this year.

Did anyone else play in the big leagues in 2007 (or before) and resurface in 2012?

Roger Clemens? Or does it have to be strictly MLB?

MLB is preferred. I don't know the answer to this, I'm just curious.

Lew Ford, who last played MLB in 2007, and at age 36 is still fast enough to be a pinch-runner and defensive outfielder for the Orioles now.

Rich Thompson is another one. He last played in 2004 before resurfacing with the Rays in 2012.

What about the ex-Cub who the Marlins let have one atbat this year.
"(Shoeless Joe Jackson's fall from grace is one of the real tragedies of baseball. I always thought he was more sinned against than sinning." -- Connie Mack

"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)

Adam Greenberg was mentioned in the original post.

Not exactly respecting the dates you've asked for, i would submit what is possibly one of the longest ''hiatus''.... Satchel Page pitched for the Browns in 1953 with a record of 3w & 9l with a 3.53 ERA He came back in 1965 for 1 game with the Athletics... He started the game and got 9K's but was not part of the decision if my sources are right. Although this was probably a publicity stunt, was there ever a longer hiatus between 2 at bats...
'' Mr. Rickey, do you want a ball player who's afraid to fight back?'' Jackie Robinson

'' I want a ball player with guts enough NOT to fight back.'' Branch Rickey

Satchel Paige had one strikeout in three innings in his 1965 start.

Charley O'Leary had 21 years between at bats when he singled as a pinch hitter at 58 years old in 1934. I'm not sure if it's the longest hiatus.
