Has there ever been a starting pitcher in the World Series who did not win a game in the regular season of that year? How about postseason (before Carpenter tonight)??

yes. The last one to do it was Yovani Gallardo in 2008 (NLDS). The only other player I can find that did it was Virgil Trucks in the 1945 world series, or if you include pre-1901, Jimmy Ryan in 1886Originally posted by Brownieand45sfan View Post

trucks most likely just got back from the war
he had no games in 1944 and his only start in 1945 was on sept 301. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)
