  • 2 grand slams in the same inning

    Last night, Adam LaRoche of the Braves and Milton Bradley of the Dodgers hit grand slams in the same inning. How many times has it been done in the past and who was involved?

    I can only think of Fernando Tatis of the Cards, who did it twice against Chan Ho Park and Yamil Benitez, who did it in a Diamondbacks/Angels game in 1998 (can't think of the Angels player who did it).

    Five times in Major League baseball, both teams have hit Grand Slams in the same inning (with EACH club connecting):

    AL(2):
    Washington (1) vs Boston (1) 06-18-1961 9th Inning
    Cleveland (1) vs Texas (1) 04-14-1980 1st Inning

    NL(3):
    New York (1) vs Chicago (1) 05-18-1950 6th Inning
    Atlanta (1) vs Cincinnati (1) 09-12-1974 2nd Inning
    Chicago (1) vs Pittsburgh (1) 09-09-1992 6th Inning

    Plus, there have been six times where one team has hit two GS's in one inning:

    AL(3):
    Minnesota (2) vs Cleveland (0) 07-18-1962 1st Inning
    Milwaukee (2) vs Boston (0) 04-12-1980 2nd Inning
    Baltimore (2) vs Texas (0) 08-06-1986 4th Inning

    NL(3):
    Chicago (2) vs Pittsburgh (0) 2 08-16-1890 5th Inning
    Houston (2) vs New York (0) 07-30-1969 1st Inning
    St. Louis (2) vs Los Angeles (0) 04-23-1999 3rd Inning

      6/9/98

      Cecil Fielder (ANA) and Yamil Benitez (ARI) 3rd inning.

      Or does it not count since it was during interleague play?

        Yeah, it does count. I just found my information on that website. It is obviously not up-to-date.

        Interleague games are still Major League games. All stats count for teams and players.

            Hello Fever Fans,

            Last night, Adam LaRoche of the Braves and Milton Bradley of the Dodgers hit grand slams in the same inning.
            I missed that one and appreciate you sharing it with us / me here. I have edited & uploaded a new Grand Slam Team Record Book with that one included.

            Yeah, it does count. I just found my information on that website. It is obviously not up-to-date. Interleague games are still Major League games.
            I am sorry about the confusion. The page was up to date, but the Interleague game was mentioned in the Fast Facts section of the page and not in the data area of a the page. A bad mistake on my part and I haved fixed that as well.

            Sean

              Update to this thread:

              On August 22, 2006, Carlos Delgado and Albert Pujols hit grand slams in the 5th inning. It's the first time in more than a year that it has happened.

                On July 16, 2006 the Mets had two grand slams in the 6th inning against the Cubs. Cliff Floyd and Carlos Beltran were the hitters.
