Isn't it great to be a Yankee fan?

                      No they weren't.
If I understand your question you are asking if they were on the same team traded to and traded from at the time of the trade. For example two Yankees traded to the White Sox. If that is correct, no they were on separate teams, such as in the example one was a Yankee and the other a White Sox.
Note the example itself has nothing to do with this player.

Great, thanks - that was the question I was asking.

Were either of the traded HOFers minor league players at the time of the trade?

Let me see if I understand this, because I have a dumb question. Did one of the HOF'ers you were traded for become a HOFer in another sport?

It isn't a dumb question. But no they were both baseball HOFers.

Just to clear something up. There were two HOFers involved in the trade. He wasn't necessarily "traded for" two HOFers. A HOFer and I could be traded for another HOFer. Two HOFers are still involved in the trade.
