    RE: Diamondback Attendance 2001 Season??

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Nov-08-01 AT 01:08 AM (EST)]I may have to edit this after rechecking my sources, but I believe this season's attendance was 2.7 million, up a tad from last years' but way off the 1998 high of 3.6.

Glad I looked. 2.7 million all right, not counting the playoffs and WS, but last year was 2.9, so it was *down* a tad, again not counting post season. Colangelo et al have hopes for an upsurge for the next couple seasons.

After beating the Yankees in the World Series, most of the games away that Arizona plays are SOLD OUT!!!

      Their away attentance was higher!!

        [updated:LAST EDITED ON Jul-13-02 AT 04:16 PM (EDT)]Cool guy-

The Snakes are averaging about 35-40K per home game this year. I was amazed at the attendance numbers during the most recent homestand before the AS break.

They easily averaged 43-44K+ during the middle of the week against the Dodgers and Giants. So much for all of my predictions about declining attendance and bandwagon fans?

Why would you bump an old thread? I don't think any of those guys post here anymore.

Well, it is interesting to see the trends in attendance over the years. The year after their World Series win they topped 3 million in attendance! But last year (one year after a 111-loss season) they barely made it above 2 million. I wonder if all teams experience a one-year lag affect depending on performance like that.

You know who is experiencing a lag in attendance?

The Marlins were 14 of 16 in the NL in attendance after beating the Yankees in the 2003 series.

                  21k a game as champions?
