With the exception of Sam, this thread thus far has the somewhat bizarre distinction of having the overall worst grammar of any thread I've seen...
"They put me in the Hall of Fame? They must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel!"
-Eppa Rixey, upon learning of his induction to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Motafy (MO-ta-fy) vt. -fied, -fying 1. For a pitcher to melt down in a big game situation; to become like Guillermo Mota. 2. The transformation of a good pitcher into one of Guillermo Mota's caliber.

I'm just kidding with you. I was trying to continue the joke.

Listen, I understnad what you're saying, but the fact is that the majority of knowledgeable Braves fans expect this from Hampton.

However, some of us have hope that he'll be able to contribute something this season. That is either because we want him to earn the multi-million dollar salary that he is getting paid, or we'd like to see him go out there and pitch just as a human interest, good-feel story.

I feel bad for Hampton and believe that he doesn't deserve a lot of the vitrol that he gets. However, there are others who believe the opposite; Hampton doesn't deserve sympathy because he either doesn't take care of himself properly or he doesn't deserve the nearly $56 million he has earned from 2005 on because all he has done is sit on the bench, rehab and get hurt.

That is all that needs to be said.

I hear that a hospital in Georgia is planning on naming a wing after Mike Hampton.

Now that's the kind of medical technology that Hampton needs access to.

                              Just an update.

From what I have read he could have pitched through it but Cox didn't want to risk it. Overall I don't think it is very serious.

To blame Hampton for his injuries is rather stupid. As his injuries were not caused by laziness or just not caring but are injuries that could happen to anyone who plays sports on a regular basis. Something like Tommy John surgery has just become common and only shows that you put a lot of stress on your elbow.

From everything I have seen of him he just has some of the worst luck out there. Which is like Chipper who doesn't have as bad of luck but it is up there. The truth of these sorta of injuries is just a string of really crappy luck that is hard to explain. Some will say the person is injury prone but unless the injuries are of the same type then it really is just horrible luck.

Personally I can't wait till Hampton's huge contract is off the books but if he pitches well this year I wouldn't be against bringing him back for a lower contract. Hopefully this is nothing and he pitches well this year.
                              Extend Prado!!!
