  • boyer sucks again

okay, enough is enough. release this guy or something. he's killing us!!! single-handedly lost us three games that I can think of. he's way to jekyll and hyde. it's sad that the braves have a losing record to the marlins and nats.

As much as I hate to say it, you are absolutely right man. I really think that he isn't working as much as others say he is. Maybe he can get it together or something down the line, but right now it isn't working. But that isn't the only deal. The whole team is struggling. 12 and 14 wont get it done right now. Granted it is early, we have to get it going sometime, or it will be a long season.

And who do you propose will replace Boyer? What if they fail so spectacularly as he has? We just going to do bullpen musical chairs the wholse season?

Uh...how about give stockman a chance maybe? Or some other guys. What you want them to do man?....Let him pitch until he runs himself out of town like Kolb or Remlinger? Give me a break, if something ain't working, you have to go in another direction. I want the guy to do well, but this is business, and with bringing in Tex for 1.5 years maybe only, we need to win this year...and right now they are struggling with the Nats/Marlins, primarily because of bullpen woes.

And what if Stockman fails? You want him gone too? I don't think Boyer is that bad. And to want to jettison him from the team, which would mean that he'll have to be DFA'd and some other team will pick him up, in April is very reactionary.

Mike Stanton is available. He might not be MLB-good anymore, but he's available.

He's pitched in 1178 games!

Look man, I just think right now they need a change, because what is happening now isn't working. When Thorman was struggling, everyone wanted him off of first base. I see nothing different now with BB. I don't want to see him on another team, but right now he has not been effective most of the time. Yes, he has had good stints, but give someone else a chance to shine, especially if the club is losing.

the release comment was probably a little much, but i was really upset when i wrote it. However, I still don't think it's far from that. When gonzo comes back and hampton(maybe i know) and smoltz those are three spots you gota make room for. I also think that reyes might see a shot in the bullpen this year. Resop, Ring and Boyer have all been bad. Maybe boyer isn't the worst of the three but maybe the way in which he gives up is runs. Def. shouldn't be in there with the game on the line. I would like to see something as close to this.

Starters: glavine, hudson, jurrjens, reyes/bennett, smoltz/bennett
Pen: Gonzo/smoltz, Acosta, Campillo, Bennett (if in pen), ohman(lefty specialist), (boyer/ring/resop/stockman) for any remaining spots.

assuming moylan, hamton(after his latest setback) and soriano are done for an exteneded period of time or the whole season. Yea, I know this is unfair cause most of these guys are hurt, but we should be getting most of the other guys back soon.

I agree! I mean it is only april(last day of it), but the braves are 2.5 back, which doesn't sound like alot. BUT the braves have had a much easier schedule than the phils and mets. pirates, nats, marlins, rockies. While the mets and the phils have already played each other 6 times(braves yet to play the phils) and other teams like the cubs and brewers.

Boyer isn't exactly a spring chicken, but I still think he has something.

That particular inning last was aggravated by two things: Chipper's misplay that tipped a grounder and prevented Escobar from probably getting at least one out, and then Francoeur probably misplayed that line drive. It looked catchable to me.

You are right about that inning SamtheBravesFan; but what about the other innings? You probably are right about him having good stuff, but until he shows it on a consistent basis, he can't be called upon consistently just for him to blow it. Like you said, he isn't a spring chicken, so where was his success before this? I hope the guy can turn it around; and I will root for him always, but if Smoltz does go to the bullpen, Soriano comes back, Gonzo enters, Ohman, and Acosta, and Ring, they probably wont have room for him.

Man I love this forum. Baseball is so fun to talk about.

Isn't it ironic that here we are saying how bad BB has been and he goes out there today and does well (1.2 inning, 1 hit, 1 SO). Maybe he read the forum and was sparked, just kidding. Good job to him!

yea! he's pretty inconsistent. I just didn't think and still don't that he should be the guy in their to get that key out. However, with the injuries there are not many other options I guess. I agree with bravesfanforeever too in that if everyone comes back he might be out of luck.
