  • Freddy Garcia an Option

Wow, it has been a while since I have posted. It has been a busy few months but that is not the point of the post.

In a few weeks or a month, it's expected that he will audition for interested teams, with the intention of returning to the majors in the second half of the season.

Some veteran pitchers, like Bartolo Colon, felt more comfortable signing with teams in spring training as they rehabbed their arms, perhaps preferring a landing spot with a team. Garcia has taken a different track, and assuming there are no setbacks, he is now in position to auction his services to a range of teams in midseason, when needs are more acute. These are some of the teams that have monitored his progress: the Mets, the Red Sox, Braves, Yankees, White Sox, Rangers and Mariners.
I know the Braves have been linked to Maddux recently but what do you guys think of adding Garcia?

As long as it doesn't cost the Braves much, I'm all for bringing him on. He and Maddux might very easily have the same output and consistency the rest of the year.

It's all based on me not being comfortable at all with bringing Maddux back because I think the cost would be too great, and we probably won't get the results we want.

Yea I don't care so much who it is, as long as it is someone. James is not the answer. Also, I don't think bennett and campillo would be a good option for the rest of the season and I'd prefer to see morton in AAA til september or next year. I do think the braves have a couple middle infielders or OF that they could toss around on the trading block along with james(if we could get anything for him).

      Oh and purebaseballfan welcome back!

I would not be surprised if Chuck James is dealt in July. I want to see the guy do well consistently, but he's turned into Horacio Ramirez. You have no idea whats going to happen when he's out there.

I think the Braves will follow the Garcia progress. He could be a good addition to the rotation. I want to say the Braves have shown an interest in him before when he was playing for the Mariners.
