  • Will home success continue

tuesday: maine (5-2, 2.81era) vs. glavine (1-1, 4.41 era) edge:maine; because glavine struggled against the braves as a met, I am just going out on a whim and saying that familiarity is an issue for this start too. Plus, maine is the the better pitch right now. Although, it's worth noting that maine is either really good or really bad against the braves. In four career starts he has given up: 6,1,4(8hits, 3BB,96pitches in four innings),2 run(s)

vargas(0-1, 2.84era) vs. campillo(0-0, 1.27era) edge:vargas; this is a toss-up, but I give the edge to vargas since this is campillo first start of the season.

Wednesday: pelfrey(2-4, 4.17era) vs. jurrjens(4-3, 2.82era) edge: jurrjens. Despite pelfrey's improvement, I have to give the edge to jurrjens here. He has been the better pitcher all season. Not to mention, he will be on normal rest this time.

Thursday: santana(5-2, 3.30era) vs. hudson(6-3, 3.06era) edge:hudson This may be a little biased and this one could go either way but I am giving the edge to hudson for three reasons. One, the braves play better at home. Two, hudson hasn't had two consecutive back starts this season. Three, Santana gives up a lot of long balls and I am predicting that tex will find his bat this series and belt a couple during this series. (maybe frenchy too, but I think that's being a little too optimistic

Series take: So, on paper it looks as though this rare 4 game series in three days could end up split, depending on how a few things fall. I could also see this series going 3-1 in either teams favor. Big series of this even bigger home-stand for the braves. The double-header might actually help the braves since the mets seem to be a bit older, but who knows.

Disclaimer: this is not really backed by stats, cause I am not much of a stats guy, more just a feeling of how people are playing, etc.

Yeah, I'm thinking a split too.

I think that the home success will continue. The mets have definitely been playing well. But the Braves has as well, and with the added encouragement of a 'rivalry' I think they should go 3-1 this series. The Maine/Glavine game tomorrow should be a good one. Key words 'should be'. I'm headed to games Wednesday and Thursday so hopefully they are just as good.

I am concerned about Campillo starting. :crossfingers:

Why? He has starting experience in AAA Tacoma in the Pacific Coast League last season, so he can do it in a pinch. It'll be just for this one game, most likely. Besides, he'll have four days of rest. He'll be fine.

hopefully he will do well, cause the braves are gonna need a fifth starter during this long stretch of games with no day off.

Looks like there was nothing to be concerned about with Campillo!! The guy got it done! This was the feeling of the mets (especially Delgado)-
              But Campillo looked spectacular.

yes very good indeed. braves plan to bring him back on three days rest against the dbacks, which i like better than using glavine on three days rest.

How concerned are you now about Campillo starting now? lol he pitched a great game didn't he? He's actually starting Saturday against the Dbacks on short rest Bobby Cox said. Said he watched the tape on that game and reminded him of Greg Maddux. He was pitching so good and putting the balls where he wanted them he was throwing 86mph fastballs by guys.

I hope this success continues and they get a win today. Huddy vs. Santana is going to be a great matchup! I hope we can sweep the Mets!

                        Happy birthday Sam! :candle::candle:

does anyone realize the dbacks are 3-7 against the east(mets, phils, fish) and 3-6 against the central(cubs, reds, astros). Meaning most of their wins are against the struggling west. should be a good series. should really find out how good each team can be this year.

Friday: davis(1-1, 3.72era) vs. reyes(2-1,4.12era): edge: davis; After what lester did this week it's really hard to pick against davis. He might have fate on his side. Also, as far as more logical reason, while reyes has pitched well that blister seems to still be causing him problems, so that could be an issue as well.

Saturday: johnson(4-1, 4.42era) vs. campillo(1-0,era .99): edge: johnson, I think johnson is flat out the better pitcher. Despite, campillo being dazzling against the mets. Also, he is coming back on three days rest to make just his THIRD start EVER. Johnson looked awfully good in his last outing, less velocity but still a great slider.

Sunday: owings(5-2, 3.81era) vs. glavine (2-1, 3.98era): edge: glavine; I know owings single-handedly beat the braves last time he faced them, but I just don't see that happening this time. In each of his three starts against the east teams(mets, phils, fish) he has given up at least three runs. Add in the fact that glavine can use his crafty location skill against the young hitters of the dbacks and I believe the braves take this one.

Monday: webb(9-1, 2.69era) vs. jurrgens(5-3, 2.64era) edge:jurrgens; that's right I am going with the rookie over the superstar. Mainly because I think jurrgens is a superstar. His poise has been outstanding. Nothing is gonna rattle this kid. Not the team with the best record in the NL, not going against webb, not even if he gets an early deficit. He has great confidence in his ability and this should be a great matchup. I think the bats will be the difference in this game, not the pitching.

I think this series will be much much harder to sweep and to win for that matter. Despite, the braves bats and pitchers are really going strong. The only sure win that I think will happen is glavine's start. Hopefully, the bats will be up for the challenge! LETS GO BRAVES!
