The Marlins have just released Kerry Ligtenberg. We all remember him as a very solid reliever who pitched for the Braves in the late nineties (served as closer once) and early 2000's.
Well he was having an awesome spring with the Marlins
He was in 9 games with 2 sv in 2 opportunities, he gave up 3 runs in 10.2 innings pitched, with an ERA. of 2.53 with 4 k and 3 BB and an opp avg. of
.243!!!
But for some reason unknown to me, he wasn't good enough to make the marlins team so he was released.
This 35 year old would be a great pick-up for the Braves. This guy never had an ERA. higher than 3.61 from 1997 to 2003. And he pitched well in AAA last year for the D'Backs.
Bobby Cox is concerned with experiance in the pen. This guy is a vet. And I believe we could get him for a cheap price, and he could give us a lot of quality innings.
I always did like this guy. So I wouldn't mind going retro late nineties with Ligtenberg and Remlinger in the bullpen.
