I wish Bobby would bring back Smoltz on 3 days rest for th last game of that series. Then we'd have Horacio,Hudson, and Smoltz, our 3 best pitchers, going in that series.

Originally posted by Atlanta Braves FreakWell, Chuck James fell short of 5-0, he lost tonight. Final score, 2-1.
A few bad calls (especially with LaRoche) and not producing with RISP, despite OUTSTANDING "Web Gem" plays by Langerhans, we just barely lost.
I'm positive about tonight, though! It looks like Chipper and Andruw *MIGHT* be starting tonight. Woot!1914 Boston Braves

Ya our starting pitching is the biggest concern right now. Hudson hasn't been himself lately...we could use a quality start from him. I'm pretty thrilled with the Wickman deal considering our closer situation. I was definitely surprised by it because we don't usually make deals midseason. At least thats what I feel.4th Member of the Peter Moylan Fan Club!!!!:gt

I hope Wickman has lots of babies, and they grow up to pitch for the Braves.
I love that guy! Great win tonight for the Bravos!
Let's get one more from the Marlins to have some momentum for the Mets this weekend!1914 Boston Braves

Yea Wickman is looking great. I know Smoltz is glad to have him. Was it just me or did Chipper look a little uncomfortable at the plate tonight. I'm hoping the starting pitcher just had him off balance. He drove one to the warning track against their reliever in his last at bat. Hopefully, he will be in the lineup and get some hit tomorrow. It was definitely good to have both Jones boys in the lineup tonight."I never saw anyone like Ty Cobb. No one even close to him. He was the greatest all time ballplayer. Maybe I'm bad luck. I was at today's game and it was going pretty well. Then all of a sudden, disaster.

Well our two new acquisitions look good, but our starting pitching is just terrible other than Smoltz of course. With Chipper out for the next couple of weeks, if Hudson and Ramirez don't get it going we'll be out of the race by the time he gets back."I never saw anyone like Ty Cobb. No one even close to him. Did it bother anybody else that Jeff Francouer swung at a 2 and 0 pitch after Glavine had just walked Jones and then swung at the first pitch with the bases loaded in his next at bat. I think he should have the take sign more often or else just sit and let Chipper talk to him about hitting. I've heard numerous people in the Braves organization try to compare him to Chipper, but he isn't even close as a hitter yet. He's got all the tools to do it, but last I checked he had a .284 on base percentage. That's barely ahead of Cedeno and Barmes for worst in the league. And those are two shortstops. I really like Francouer, but he's got to change his approach. He plays hard and has tremendous talent, if he could develop some plate discipline he could become an elite hitter. He probably won't ever be as good as Chipper once was and still is when he's healthy, but maybe he will one day take Chipper's place as our number three hitter. Although I sure hope Chipper can find a way to stay healthy, beacause we will always struggle without him. Nobody can really fill Chipper's shoes, but right now McCann is looking like he might be the one to take over three hole in a few years. Hopefully many years from now."I never saw anyone like Ty Cobb. No one even close to him. He was the greatest all time ballplayer. That guy was superhuman, amazing."
