  • Devine Back to AAA

Devine has been sent back to AAA Richmond and have called up Peter Moylan. Thoughts?

It will be something to see how Moylan handles this shot at the big leagues. He wasn't doing too hot down in the minors, but it was pretty limited action so far.

Moylan's got some nice action on his pitches, but he does have some problems with control. Most of the time I think he just aims at the plate in general and not any certain spot.

    Good Luck Peter Moylan!

Devine needed to go back. A case of too much, too soon I surmise.

Devine is still on the DL. According to this he is on the Danville roster which is rookie ball...

Braves are ruining Devine if they use in the majors before 2007. Pitchers take time to develop and he was pitching in the NLDS half a season after he was drafted.
The Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?

          The A: No

Selig is like a stray pigeon. Pigeons are too self-absorbed to care about anyone else. They poo on people they don't like; they poo on people they don't even know. The only real difference between Selig and a pigeon is that Selig intends to bury our heritage, our traditions, and our culture,

That's basically the reason the Braves didn't put him on the 25 man roster to begin the season, even though he had one of the best springs of the pitchers.

Great point, he showed he was a dominant closer in college, but that didn't warrant a early callup to the majors last year. He really hasn't developed.

Seems odd he always gets injured when he's called up. Maybe he's trying to hard when he's called up.

Probably the Braves thought Devine would turn into another Hudson Street. Street was excellent in college and made the leap to the big leagues very quickly and with few problems. Things certainly haven't turned out the same though for Devine.

I'd give Devine at least half of a year in the minors before we call him up again. That means about now, wait until september to call him up again. Maybe then, he can show some ability to get hitters out more easily, and he can step up in 2007.

I hope he shows enough progress in the minors, so we can call him the "INCUMBENT closer for 2007".

Joey need to learn to paint the outside corner with a fastball for 0-1 then he needs to throw a borderline high and in fastball for 0-2 and then a low and away slider which falls off the table for the K. He has the ability to do this, he just needs practice to harness his control. Sometimes he just slings a sidearm pitch right over the plate, and it's just belted.

He has the chance to be a dominating Smoltz like closer, unfortunately experience is lacking for him. If he pitches well, IE. ERA. under 3 and around same K as innings pitched at AAA. He should be the incumbent for closer in 2007.
