May as well be a good time to start this.
46 wins to match last year's total

Are we going to make any significant moves? I don't think we can win with our current roster... Staying pat obviously didn't work last off-season.

Depends what you mean by "significant". I don't expect anything earth-shattering because of the budget, but if they come out of this off-season with an improved team, color me surprised.

The Braves have signed RHP Chien-Ming Wang to a Minor League contract and given him a ST invite.

Ervin Santana rejects a 15+mil qualifying offer.

          Thank God.

Maybe he wants to go back to the Royals!

This appears to be a trend, ESPN: "NEW YORK -- For the third straight year, baseball's free agents shunned qualifying offers from their former teams and chose to test the market. All 12 free agents who were given the $15.3 million offers last week chose not to accept by Monday's 5 p.m. EST deadline."
"The key to being a good manager is keeping the people who hate me away from those who are still undecided."
            Casey Stengel

"Pitchers are just a different breed. They're like a tick on a dog; they're worthless for four days but then they have to suck blood on that fifth day."

I like Almonte. Hopefully he can develop into a nice PH, Corner outfield replacement.

I'm missing something about him. Was he once a good prospect?

Nah, he had a decent minor league track record though.

                      Probably the replacement for Bonifacio.

We could use a decent bat off the bench. We haven't had one since Hinske, although Doumit was supposed to be that guy last year.

That thing is a complete crapshoot. Remember Greg Norton? Superb one year, loses almost all skill the next.

Ha! Greg Norton. What a blast from the past. I think we got Danny Kolb that same year? Remember him? He pretty much did the same thing.
