    That's what this is insinuating:

    Wasn't it a bit of an, I don't know... easy choice for them? Sure, Heyward was really good, but the Braves had been mucking with his approach and swing since he was a rookie because of some misguided notion that he was going to be the next Hank Aaron. As a result of that, he's only once approached the kinds of seasons Freeman has had despite striking out less.

    EDIT: of course, they mention that in the article, go figure.
