  • Cubs Anagrams

Borrowing from another thread, try to solve these anagrammed names which are in quotes.

    1. What's your "ERA John? Sir, try" to find out by yourself. = Jerry Hairston, Wolverineman

    2. Where's the beer "Jennifer? Keg is..." over there. = Fergie Jenkins, Wolverineman

    3. Were you charged with "arson? Not" me! = Ron Santo, Wolverineman

    4. You drive like an "ace, Terry. No stop" signs on this street so just keep going. = Corey Patterson, Wolverineman

    5. You look like "a blond Roy" Orbison. = Don Baylor, Wolverineman

    6. Do you need "a wider comb Ron?" Patrick, are you trying to tell me something? = Mordecai Brown, Wolverineman

    7. I didn't know you could throw "a sinker Ben." = Ernie Banks, Wolverineman

A lot of people say this honor validates my career, but I didn't work hard for validation. I didn't play the game right because I saw a reward at the end of the tunnel. I played it right because that's what you're supposed to do, play it right and with respect. If this validates anything, it's that learning how to bunt and hit and run and turning two is more important than knowing where to find the little red light at the dug out camera. - Ryne Sandberg

Correct on those two counts. (hint: They are former Cubs also, and a manager too.)

By the way, those who are solving these, try to do it first with no anagram websites, makes it more fun.

I don't use any anagram websites. That's why I haven't figured any out.

For the record I didn't use any sites either. I was discussing it some with Splendid Splinter on AIM, but thats about it. I wrote some up at school earlier, but I found its a lot harder to make them up than it is to answer them. One question, I was able to do a few of them by having the words split up, like the 1st, 3rd, and 7th words in the sentence combine to make the name. Is that still okay to post? If not I can mess around and find the 'right way' to do them. I didn't have tons of time so thats why I did it that way. I do have a few right ones so I'll dig around and find that paper and post them later.
