  • Pitching Rotation Next year

The way i see it, we do not have one definate starter for all of next year.

    1. Zambrano leads the league in pitches thrown, has been in the lead for last few years. He will possibly be out of commision next year.

    2. Prior. You simply cannot depend on him.

    3. Wood. See Prior.

    4. Rusch. Not a capable starter, only good in spot situations, if that.

    5. Mateo, O'Malley, Marmol. All need more time in the minors, a lot more. Marmol could be great if he gets his stuff under control.

    6. Guzman. He plays great in the bullpen. Should stay there. Still looking for first major league win.

    7. Hill and Marshall- Hill is starting to show the lights out pitcher he should be. Marshall has great poise.

So basically my question is what free agents are available to pick up?
(Besides Zito, Padilla, Maddux, and Traschel.)

Don't forget Jason Schmidt. I think you'll see Zambrano, Prior, Free Agent, Marshall, Hill. We may have to trade a couple young arms for a couple vets though, we'll see.

Not a bad guess but it more then likely will be like the following:

        Ace - Zambrano
2nd - Prior/Hill (We all know not to count on Priors Health)
        3rd - Schmidt
        4th - Mateo
        5th - Marmol/ Marshall

Wood is not going to be able to be a starter again!!! He will be back to be in our bullpen and possibly our closer however.

The Cubs will have to sign another pitcher in the offseason.

The guy that posted this doesn't know what he is talking about. Just because Z had a MRI done on his back *which came back fine* he must think that Z will be out. Appearently he doesn't really know what an MRI is.
